Mumbai: At an ongoing film festival in Mumbai, the visually-challenged might find something to rejoice about for the film Blind Ambition is surely turning out to be an eye opener.

The film shows how a visually challenged girl keeps her dreams alive and driving. The story is that a blind girl is running a marathon as a tribute to her dead mother and the film is creating quite a buzz at the ongoing MAMI film festival in Mumbai.

This courageous story of visually-challenged Sapna running a marathon got the National Federation of the Blind in California to endorse the film.

Directed by Indian-American filmmaker Bala Rajashekhrauni, Blind Ambition stars US born Pakistani actress Michelle Massey in the lead role and the film is all set for a grand premiere in California soon.

"For the first time in history, there would and will soon celebrate a special premiere with half the theater filled with blind audience and the other half with sighted audience,” said Rajasekharuni.

Co-starring Gulshan Grover who plays Sapna's caring but over-protective father, Blind Ambition takes inspiration from Al Pacino starrer Scent of a woman, in a scene when Sapna gets behind the wheels of a car. The filmmaker claims that driving is a dream for most blind people.

"I spoke to the National Federation for the blind and they said that almost 60 per cent of blind people harbour a wish to drive," explained Rajasekharuni.

With the descriptive version of the film also scheduled to be out soon, even visually challenged people would be sure to enjoy it.
