New Delhi: Armyman-turned-director Major Ravi's latest Malayalam movie, Mission 90, has come in the line of fire.
The controversy surrounds the fact that the chief of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, has, reportedly, been shown in bad light.
“Even after so many high officials were there, above all of them there was this one man, the SIT chief who had to give this order. But then he was not there on the spot and he came only the next day. So next day means one night is over which means the surprise element was lost for the commandos. That’s what I had picturised,” clarified Ravi.
The movie, starring Mammootty, is on the commando operation launched to nab the chief conspirators Sivarasan and Subha from their hide out in Bangalore.
Mission 90 shows that it was a delay on SIT chief Karthikeyan's part to order the commando operation, which ended in the failure to arrest the two militants alive.
Major Ravi was himself commanding the six-member National Security Guard Commando team which carried out the operation on August 18, 1991.
