Hoshiarpur/ Tarsikka (Punjab): Punjab goes to the polls on Tuesday and campaigning has just ended, but not before all the main parties got their most glamorous campaigners to hit the trail.
With BJP's Bihari Babu canvassing voters in Punjab, actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha was in Hoshiarpur this week, campaigning hard for the BJP—Shiromani Akali Dal alliance.
The alliance roped in Sinha to woo the million strong migrant population, which is mostly constituted by labourers from Bihar and UP.
“All voters are fond of me, but if I have come here then the people from Bihar will definitely support me,” said Shatrughan Sinha.
After its dismal performance in the last assembly polls, the BJP definitely needs a leg up this time and Sinha's charm seems to have worked at least on some star-struck voters.
“We have come to see Sinha and we will do as he says. We like him. We will vote for BJP,” said a Bihari voter, Pradeep.
The ruling Congress party too brought in its hero number one to get some much-needed votes.
Rains continued to lash the state but that didn't stop Congress MP Govinda from making an appearance in Veraka, and singing praises of Party President Sonia Gandhi.
With both the Congress's and the BJP-Akali Dal's high-profile campaigns attracting a lot of attention from the public, one will have to wait and watch to see how much of it will translate into votes.
