Film-making is big business, and each and every film is made keeping box office collections in mind. On CNN-IBN’s Filmi Fiscal, we tell you the state of the four films that hit the silver screen last week.
Last week, four films released at the box office: Red, 1971, Water and Sarhaad Paar.
From the first day and first weekend collections one can get a rough idea on the fate of a film.
As far as the Amitabh-Bachchan-starrer Nishabd is concerned, which released the week before last, the verdict is out! It's a flop while Honeymoon Travels Private Limited is just about average.
For now, here’s a look at the first weekend for last week's four releases:
|
| RED NOT HOT: The Aftab Shivdasani-Celina Jaitely-Amrita Arora-starrer thriller got a poor opening at the box office. |
|
| WAR FRAMES: 1971, starring Manoj Bajpai and Ravi Kissan also didn’t open quiet well. |
|
| WATER WOES: Deepa Mehta's much-talked about film didn’t fare upto the mark. |
|
| DUD DOOM: The Sanjay-Dutt starrer is expected to be out of most of the theatres within a week. |
Even though there were four releases last Friday, that's all that the sobbing box office report had to say. It looks like the film industry should now concentrate more on quality and less on quantity.
