TIRUPUR: A traffic inspector who had penned the script for a documentary on creating awareness on road safety, is now filming a 90-minute documentary called ‘What is Crime’ to enlighten people on precautionary measures to prevent crimes.
Avinashi Traffic Inspector A Sekar had recently filmed a documentary on road safety awareness which received a good response from the public and from senior police officials. Inspired by this film, Tirupur SP V Balakrishnan ordered Sekar to create a documentary on crime, for the people of Tirupur, where the crime rate has increased drastically. Speaking about the documentary, Inspector A Sekar, who wrote the script and dialogue, said, “The documentary is being created with 25 concepts on preventing crimes like burglary, chain snatching, bike and car lifting, robbery by diverting attention, and stealing in commercial establishments. It also includes house breaking-in incidents where house owners were careless. With awareness, most crimes can be avoided, is the message.
Sekar has written two songs in the documentary which praise hard workers, who earn money the proper way, and condemns people who earn at the expense of others, through crimes.
“The documentary will also feature the hardships of children of offenders who are often neglected by society. It also features small crimes which led to major crimes, including murder.” he noted. The police team has almost completed the filming of the documentry and they plan to release it to the public on June 1. According to him about 10,000 copies of the documentary will be prepared for distributing to college students, to the general public at theatres and other public places.
Meanwhile, police personnel from Tirupur South Police Sub Division have also planned to create awareness on crime, through street plays.
Tirupur DSP Rajaram, said, “The street play has various concepts that will help make people aware of the modus operandi of thieves, including robbers who divert their victim’s attention at ATM centres.”
