Final quota report by September 15

New Delhi: The Oversight Committee, which is preparing a plan to implement 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in government-aided educational institutes, will give its report by September 15.

“I think the report will be given by September 15,” said former Karnataka chief minister and committee chief Veerappa Moily on Tuesday. The deadline was August 31.

Indicating that implementing the new quota is possible only in a staggered manner, Moily said: "There cannot be any uniform policy."

"Some institutions said it (implementation) could be possible in one year and some other institutions felt it may be implemented in two years. It all depends upon the courses," said Moily.

At a meeting with academics, Moily discussed how the report should be implemented and what role the management of institutes and the Government would play.

Moily’s final round of consultations with experts is over.
