Finally, Lohri for girls in Punjab

Phagwara (Punjab): Things are finally looking up for the fair sex with more and more locals celebrating Lohri for their girl child too.

“When I was a child myself, my parents never celebrated Lohri for me. So now as a parent I want to celebrate Lohri for my girl,” says a resident of Phagwara.

It is no revelation that the sex ratio in the state is dangerously lopsided.

But things have taken a turn for the better as girls are also getting their fair share of Lohri limelight.

Revisiting the celebration of a little girl Khushi's birth, it looks like Lohri for girls is actually catching on in Punjab.

Khushi means happiness and Khushi's first Lohri was celebrated last year and it is a trend now fast catching up across Punjab and celebrating girl Lohris may bring happiness to this region.
