Patna: Lalu Yadav was found to be breaking rules again during the fourth phase of the Bihar elections. He ignored polling rules by taking his gunmen into a polling booth in Digha. FIRs for violating the model code of conduct have now been filed against him and his wife Rabri Devi.

" An FIR has been lodged against Lalu Yadav for violating polling norms,” said Anshumali: Deputy CEO, Election Commission.

The fourth phase, crucial for the NDA combine, was marked with violence at Danapur in Patna and a stray Naxal incident at Jamui. But the highlight of the day was violation of election commission norms by Lalu Prasad Yadav while casting his vote. And this is not the first time he has violated the same norm.

"He is a habitual offender", said Nitish Kumar, CM Bihar.

Several constituencies out of the 42 that saw voting are crucial for CM Nitish Kumar.

In 2005, the NDA captured 26 out of the 42 seats, while the RJD-LJP combine managed just 9 seats.

Despite a low intensity blast, 51 per cent of all registered voters ignored the poll boycott call by Maoists and went out to vote. The real test now would be the final two phases, which will see voting in Maoist-dominated areas.
