Mumbai: Fire broke out at Infiniti mall in Mumbai's posh Versova area on Monday evening.
The fire started around 8 pm and created panic among shoppers. Twelve fire engines (Grade 2) rushed to the spot even as a heavy cloud of smoke engulfed the first floor of the Infiniti mall.
No casualties have been reported although 3 firemen received minor injuries.
Police officials say that at the time of the incident around 1,000 people were present in the mall. All of them were evacuated.
While there was no confirmation on how many shops had been gutted in the fire, officials said
property worth several crores may have been destroyed.
The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Fire officials say prime facie a short circuit appears to have caused the fire.
