Kerala: The two Italian marines in a Kerala jail want to travel to Italy to cast their votes in January elections. They have sought permission to travel to Italy and the matter will be heard on Friday.

The two Italian marines, Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, are accused of shooting Indian fishermen off the coast of India. In December, they went to Italy to celebrate Christmas with their families and returned to India after two weeks.

The marines were arrested on February 19, 2012 for shooting to death two Indian fishermen -- Ajesh Binki (25) and Jelestine (45) from on board merchant vessel 'Enrica Lexie' off Alapuzha coast, 'mistaking' them for Somali pirates.
