New Delhi: The Jaipur Literature festival has hit the home stretch at the weekend. The stars of Saturday would have to be Pico Iyer with William Dalrymple on Monday morning and then Simon Schama - who seems to be the rock star of the world of history. He also has a session on Sunday on the relevance of writing about art.
Earlier, historian Simon Schama spoke a lot about the man of the moment, US President Barack Obama and the audience was all ears.
But what has really defined the literature festival this year, has to be the sheer number of people - both distinguished participants and authors, as well as the audience.
Historian and festival organiser, William Dalrymple said, "It's come together fantastically well. The sheer number of writers and 3,000 to 4,000 people milling around prove that.
Everyone's looking for time with their favourite writers and this certainly seems to be the moment for writing from the sub-continent.
Writer and Columnist, Shashi Tharoor says, "I know that Indian writing has now definitely arrived. It's no longer arriving. It's found a place in people's consciousness around the world. There was a period in the '80s and '90s when there were a handful of people getting recognition. They are now speaking of Indian writing in a way that they used to first speak about Latin American writing, and now a much greater sense of it being established in the world."
Every evening there's been music, with musicians from across the world taking part. Ad-man Prasoon Joshi took to the stage as did actor and poet Deepti Naval.
