Chandigarh: Fiza Mohammed aka Anuradha Bali, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house, was Tuesday cremated as per Hindu rites by her relatives.
Fiza had married former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan but was later divorced. She was found dead Monday in Sector 48 of Mohali near here.
Earlier, doctors at a government hospital at Mohali conducted post-mortem of her highly decomposed body and said there were no signs of any external injury.
"Her viscera has been sent for examination to know the exact cause of her death," a doctor said in Mohali, 10 km from here.
Fiza was cremated at the Sector 25 crematorium here Tuesday as per Hindu rites.
The body was found in a decomposed state. Police said she could have died four to five days back. Maggots and other insects had eaten away portions of her body, including her face.
The Mohali police, which is investigating her mysterious death, said that all angles, including suicide, murder and death by consuming something accidentally, were being investigated.
"We will wait for the post-mortem and viscera report. Our investigations are on," Mohali district police chief Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said.
Anuradha Bali, who married Chander Mohan in Nov 2009 and was later divorced, had remained controversial.
She went missing in November 2008 with Chander Mohan. They reappeared in early December 2008 as a married couple after embracing Islam.
They got secretly married in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and changed their names from Chander Mohan to Chand Mohammed and from Anuradha Bali to Fiza.
Following the controversy over his affair and second marriage, Chander Mohan, elder son of three-time Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal, lost his job in the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government.
The marriage lasted hardly 40 days, with Chander Mohan suddenly leaving her house Jan 28, 2009 and then did not communicate with her at all.
Chander Mohan telephoned Fiza in March 2009 on her mobile phone and divorced her by saying "Talaq, Talaq, Talaq" and followed it up with an SMS to divorce her.
She earlier filed a complaint of rape, cheating, intimidation and hurting religious sentiments against Chander Mohan. However, he was given a clean chit by the Mohali police. He had described her complaint as "nothing more than toilet paper".
Fiza told the media in 2009 that she had been receiving death threats and feared for her life.
In a volte-face, Chander Mohan went to her house in 2009. He apologized to her and told the media that he had never divorced her.
However, within days he again deserted her and later underwent Hindu prayers at his hometown Hisar in Haryana to re-convert to Hinduism. Both have not been in touch since then.
Fiza later appeared in a TV reality show shot in Malaysia.
Originally known as Anuradha Bali and a lawyer by profession in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Fiza was an assistant advocate general with the Haryana government till 2008.
She led a high-profile life and was close to politicians and influential people in Chandigarh.
