THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sharjah-bound Air India flight 535 made an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Thursday after it developed a technical snag in the avionic gadget immediately after take-off from the Airport.
The 175 passengers on board the aircraft, which made the emergency landing around 11 am, were left stranded at the Airport for nearly three hours. They raised a protest after rumours spread that the flight to Sharjah had been cancelled. However, the passengers and crew were shifted to another Air India flight, which left for Sharjah by 1.45 pm.
An official spokesperson of the Air India said that the pilot, who noticed the technical problem in the avionic gadget, jettisoned the fuel in the sea, which it took one hour. “The flight with 175 passengers on board made a landing by around 11 am. The passengers and crew were shifted to a new aircraft and it left for Sharjah from the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport by 1.45 pm,” he said.
