New Delhi: A bug (and the process of fixing it) resulted in temporary chaos on the Twitterverse when users found that their follower/following count read "0".
A glitch in the popular microblogging service that permitted users to force other users to follow them was discovered and soon the word spread via popular technology blogs.
This, obviously, led to widespread excitement with people also trying to get their favourite celebrities on their followers list.

A bug resulted in temporary chaos on the Twitterverse with users\' follower/following count displaying \"0\".
Twitter soon moved into damage control mode and while they were fixing the bug, the follower/following count of users showed 0. Twitterers started tweeting about this and soon "Following 0" and "Twitter Bug Lets You" climbed up to be one of the trending topics. The hashtag "#zero" was also much tweeted.
After the initial confusion subsided, people went back to make the best of the incident with witty tweets. Here are a couple of our favourites:

Aryabhata would have been proud. Zero is trending now.

Twitter has removed this zero bug quickly, why cant it remove the trending bug called 'Justin Bieber'.
Twitter in a post on the Twitter Status blog clarified that "protected updates did not become public as a result of this bug".
