Footballer Bhutia also grabs an iPhone

New Delhi: After months of waiting, the Apple iPhone 3G finally came calling in India. Among the first to get their hands on it was the footballer Bhaichung Bhutia, in Kolkata.

“As a footballer, I used to carry three things. Now I'll carry one, the iPhone,” says Bhutia.

The launch of the phone in Mumbai saw a huge crowd but its first customer walked in long before the midnight.

“I came in at 2.30 in the afternoon. And I know how I've killed my time,” says Rajkumar Kanojia from Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Mumbai's celebrations thought up sneaky ways to get one of their own.

“Maybe I should ask Apple to gift me one,” says Carol Gracias, who was also part of the iPhone launch celebration.

The NCR also had its own share of excitement. While crowds thronged Sahara Mall for the first look at the phone, a lucky girl, Swati, ended up with the first one.

“I feel like a Cinderella tonight. I am very happy,” says Swati.

So, people who want an Apple iPhone in their pockets should be prepared to shell out at least Rs 36,000.
