Mumbai: Despite the mega success of his last release Lage Raho Munna Bhai , Sanjay Dutt, who played Munnabhai in the film, himself is keeping a low profile.
Dutt has cancelled most of his shooting schedules and even visited the Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi and the Vaishnodevi Temple.
The reason behind his low profile is the verdict in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case in which Dutt is an accused.
He was arrested in April 1993 for allegedly storing arms in his home that had been delivered to him by blast-accused Abu Salem. The actor spent 16 months in prison, and has been out on bail since.
While the makers of Lage Raho Munnabhai had some relief when the verdict date was earlier postponed from August 10, others still have reason to be concerned. There are atleast four films starring the actor that are still incomplete.
Abbas Mustan's untitled thriller co-starring Ajay Devgan, Indra Kumar's Dhamaal, Apoorva Lakhia's Shootout at Lokhandwala and Sanjay Gupta's Dus Kahaniyaan are in various stages of production, with at least Rs 75 crore invested in them.
Dutt's other movie with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Eklavya is complete and will be released early next year.
However, the actor is scheduled to begin shooting for three new movies in the months ahead. The films are Soham Shah's adventure film Race produced by Karan Johar, Sanjay Gupta's Alibaug, and Beehad in which Dutt is expected to star in and co-produce himself along with brother-in-law Kumar Gaurav.
It would perhaps be an accurate calculation to say that anything between Rs 140 to 160 crore is riding on Dutt at the moment.
At 47, Sanjay Dutt is undoubtedly among the busier stars in Bollywood. The past few months have proved lucky for the star what with the unanimous appreciation Lage Raho Munnabhai has earned from all quarters including the UN. And surely Dutt is hoping his lucky spell continues when the verdict is announced.
