For Maoist Kutty pen is mightier than gun

Cochin/Thiruvananthapuram: A 63-year-old former ISRO engineer P Govindan Kutty runs what is believed to be the official Naxal mouth piece in Kerala. Kutty believes in silently spreading the message and has been bringing out Peoples March from a small shed in the outskirts of Kochi.

Peoples March is being controlled by the CPI Maoist Central Committee and published in English and reproduced in Hindi and other languages. The magazine used to carry even articles by top Maoists like Khobad Gandhi, Sudhakar Reddy and Swapan Das Gupta under fictitious names. However, articles have dried up as the magazine was banned for a year in August 2008.

And, Kutty himself was behind the bars. But he did not give up. All this is with just a lap top, a vehicle battery and an inverter for the power. Kutty is now busy in bringing out internet editions despite the best attempts of authorities to block him.

However, with such revolutionary zeal he hates violence. Even as his comrades across the country take to mindless violence, Kutty is one Maoist who believes 'pen is mightier than gun'.
