Patan (Gujarat): For Gujarat's Education Minister Anandiben Patel there’s no dearth of campaign support – the BJP’s top central leadership have flown into Patan with even Chief Minister Narendra Modi expected to pitch in later this week.
But the challenge for Anandiben lies closer home as husband and fellow educationist Mafatlal is making sure the going gets tough for her.
Once a staunch BJP man, Mafatlal is another name in the long list of rebels asking people for vote Modi out.
“It’s a fight for ideology. BJP has lost its way and I say the same thing to my wife, but that does not mean that I am pressurising her,” Mafatlal says.
And it’s not just her husband asking the people of Patan to vote for Congress candidate Kantibhai Patel that’s worrying the Education Minister. The growing Patel anger against Modi could tilt the scales.
“I won’t talk about these things but am sure I will win,” Anandiben says.
Last time Anandiben won by a relatively smaller margin of 3,500 votes. However, this time with her own family split down the middle the going could just get tougher.
