The woman claims that she murdered her husband only to secure the future of her 6 year old daughter.
Sunita and her husband Navin were a happy couple until 7 years ago but now the smiles are gone and the love has dried up.
In fact, Sunita is now behind bars for allegedly stabbing him to death. Meanwhile, her father says Sunita was giving vent to months of frustration.
Sunita's Father Chandulal said, "He forced her into prostitution. She was really upset. She could either kill herself or kill him. And in the end, that’s exactly what happened."
The police say Navin would even bring home clients and would get violent if Sunita refused. It was the only source of income for the family and Sunita needed the money not for herself but for her 6 year old daughter.
Sunita's priority was her 6 year old daughter. She subjected herself to physical and mental humiliation only to ensure her daughter remains unaffected. The police say she took the drastic step fearing that her husband may destroy her child's future just like he had destroyed hers.
DCP, Outer District Atul Katiyar said, "She was giving her daughter a good education. She sent her to a private school. She was worried."
As the case enters the courts, it remains to be seen if the law views her as an accused or a victim of circumstances.
