New Delhi: More concrete evidence has come forward in India to nail the Pakistani lie. Mumbai's Crime Branch has confirmed that the lone terrorist captured alive after the 26/11 seige in Mumbai, Ajmal Kasab's DNA matches forensic material gathered from the Kuber - the boat which ferried the 10 attackers to Mumbai.
Forsenic material was gathered from blankets, brushes and other items recovered from the Kuber. The material also matched the DNA recovered from the nine dead terrorists, proving that they were on the boat.
The evidence all came on the day when Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon, for the first time, named the ISI to be behind the Mumbai attacks. In an address in Paris he said: "The bombing of our Embassy in Kabul and the Mumbai attacks, in each case the perpetrators planned, trained and launched their attacks from Pakistan, and the organisers were and remain clients creations of the ISI. We still await a response and prevarication continues."
However, Pakistan's response would most likely be a continuation of what has been seen so far - more denial or even deflection.
On Thursday, Pakistan's Dawn TV news channel said that Islamabad was blaming the Bangladesh based terror network Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami (HuJI) for the Mumbai attacks.
The news channel stated that Pakistani investigators claim to have credible proof the Mumbai attacks were planned and executed by HuJI trained terrorists and that at least one of the Mumbai attackers was of Bangladeshi origin.
But the HuJI link would only underscore the Pakistani connection for HuJI is known to have trained its militants at Pakistani camps.
Dawn says the Pakistani investigation is also expected to show that the 26/11 attacks were partly planned in Dubai.
According to Dawn News the Pakistani investigation could also point to the role of local Indian networks. The report says two sets of Pakistani questions relating to local Indian support were given to New Delhi and that India has responded to one set of questions so far - and the word from Delhi has been an emphatic 'no' so far.
In fact, Home Minister P Chidambaram stated on Thursday: "Both Pranab Mukherjee and I have confirmed that we have not received any response to the dossier given to Pakistan as yet."
Confirmation of Pakistan's line of investigation could come next week when Islamabad could present its findings to India.
