Kapurthala: It's harvest festival season in different parts of India. In Punjab Cherie Blair, wife of former British prime minister Tony Blair, been sighted dancing at a Lohri function
Cherie was the chief guest at a function organised at a government school in Kapurthala district and she joined in a Lohri dance performance by students.
A UK-based charitable organisation, Loomba Trust, had organised the function where scholarships were announced for poor students. The trust has also raised money to help upgrade the school infrastructure.
Punjab Government also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Trust, which is headed by Cherie to upgrade a school in Kapurthala district.
The MoU was signed by Cherie and Punjab Principal Secretary School Education KBS Sidhu in presence of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday evening under which the Trust and the state government would contribute Rs 50 lakh each for upgrading the Government Senior Secondary School at Dhilwan in Kapurthala district.
