New Delhi: Filmmakers Mira Nair, Vishal Bharadwaj, Santosh Sivan and Farhan Akhtar are coming together to campaign against AIDS, in their own way.
Under the banner of AIDS Jaago, the filmmakers will be making four short films revolving around issues related to AIDS funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Mira Nair, whose film Namesake is all set to release soon will be repeating Irfan Khan in her short film titled Migration.
“The stars, you know, some live and some learn and some live and some don’t learn. That’s the way it is,” she says.
Meanwhile, cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivan has roped in southern stars Prabhudeva and Ramya for his project.
“It is something like when you watch a mainstream film and then you suddenly see this film with your favourite star and he is going through some kind of problem, that’s how you can get the message across and we are trying that,” says Sivan.
After Omkara, Vishal Bharadwaj will be trying his hand at a thriller within this format.
“It has been difficult. I have been working for three-four months and I wasn’t able to crack the story. The easiest is to catch a story on a virus trouble,” says Bharadwaj.
Produced by Mira’s Mirabai Films, the works will hit the small screen after have a regular run at a multiplex near you.
