Four militants killed in Manipur

Imphal: Four militants were killed in separate encounters with the security personnel in Manipur's Chandel district, official sources said here today.

After receiving a tip-off, Assam Rifles personnel of the 29th battalion, started a search operation yesterday at Bongli Hill area, about 95 kms from here.

Two militants were killed on the spot after they started firing at the security personnel, sources said.

An AK 47 rifle, a magazine, one 9 mm pistol and four hand grenades were recovered from the spot.

In another encounter between militants and Assam Rifles personnel of 31th Battalion at Lokchao area in the same district, two militants were killed yesterday, sources said.

A rifle, four rounds of ammunition, one gun and two grenades were recovered from the spot, they said.

All the four bodies have been sent to the Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital here for post-mortem.
