New Delhi: A five-year-old boy has been found dead in an ashram school run by Asaram Bapu in Chindwara, Madhya Pradesh. He was found in a school bathroom with his head in a bucket of water.

With this death, the number of children dead at ashrams run by the godman have gone up to four in the last one month.

An inmate of the ashram reveals that the same ashram had recorded a similar death just three days ago.

Last month, when two cousins were found dead in an Asaram ashram in Ahmedabad, the city witnessed violent riots. Even as an enquiry has been ordered, the godman says he's being framed.

At Asaram Bapu's pravachans (teaching sessions) emotions run high. The loyalty of his disciples often scores over personal grief. Mohanlal Yadav's son was one of the first dead bodies found, but Mohanlal holds no grudge against the godman.

"Bapu gave me my son and Bapu took him away," says he.

Sixty-seven-year-old Asaram Bapu was born as Asumal in Sindh to a wealthy businessman. When he was just three, a spiritual guru apparently told his parents that the child would grow up to be a saint.

Today the godman has over 100 ashrams across India and close to 1,200 meditation centres across the world.

But voices of dissent are now creeping in.

Blogs on the internet talk about how he wrongfully confines people and psychologically manipulates them. When the first deaths of Ashram inmates were discovered in Ahmedabad, violent riots were how the pent up aggression against the godman was let loose.

With more questions being raised about what goes on behind the four walls of his ashrams, it may require more than just emotions to clear the allegations against him.
