Faridabad: In a freak accident, gun shots fired at a wedding party in Faridabad left one child dead and another seriously injured. The 11-year-old’s mother is inconsolable now.
One of the members of the groom’s family fired a shot in the air and then was trying to reload his gun when the bullet struck 11-year-old Sanjay. The victim’s father, a clerk with Haryana Electricity board, says the police haven’t made any arrests yet.
“A drunk man was firing in the air. When he tried to reload his gun, it misfired and a bullet hit my son,” said Mukesh Seni, Sanjay's father.
The wedding procession that started from Gurgaon ended in Faridabad with the death of eleven-year-old Sanjay. And he wasn't the only one who fell victim to the celebratory fire.
Eight-year-old Pradeep Seni, a resident of Syedwada in Faridabad, had gone out of his house to watch the marriage procession. That's when a stray bullet hit him on his stomach. Pradeep is receiving treatment at Delhi's Safdurjung Hospital.
“The bullet pierced his stomach and got splintered after hitting his spinal cord. Doctors are saying that they might have to do a surgery,” said Pradeep's sister.
Both families are still trying to come to terms with the cruel twist of fate where one innocent life has been lost and another is still battling to stay alive all for sake of some loud celebrations.
