New Delhi: The view India is becoming increasingly unsafe for foreigners has another instance supporting it.
Jean-Baptiste Talleu is a French cyclist who'd come to India on a cycling expedition. His family last heard from him on December 2.
Going by correspondences and Internet banking transactions, Talleu reached Mumbai on December 4. Bank records reveal two cash withdrawals made on his credit card on December 5 – one at an Andheri-Kurla Road ATM and another withdrawal from the Axis Bank. There has been no trace of him since then.
The family has filed a missing person report with the Mumbai police. They say that he was planning to go to South India.
Talleu’s brother Vincent says the family is extremely worried and is appealing for help.
“My mom spoke to him last on second December on MSN Messenger. We have no idea if he was mugged or he left Mumbai. We don’t have much contact with the police,” he said.
“My mother wanted to come but we feel it might be unsafe for her to come alone. We are sure something has happened to him otherwise he would definitely have called us on Christmas. We need help to find out what happened to him, maybe from the videos of the CCTV cams in the ATM,” Vincent Talleu suggested.
