Paris: It seems to be the week for political leaders to walk out during interviews.
French president Nicolas Sarkozy stomped off the set during a television interview when the interviewer asked about his recent split with wife Cecilia.
Sarkozy had reportedly been in an impatient mood even before the interview began.
He had even called his press secretary ‘imbécile’ for fixing the interview with the American programme 60 Minutes on a busy day.
Sarkozy, who announced his divorce on October 18, has always staunchly refused to talk about his private life.
“If I had something to say about Cecilia, I would certainly not say it here,” he snapped at presenter Leslie tahl.
"You asked me that question," Sarkozy said, as he pulled off the microphone and walked away from the confused interviewer
"Bon courage," Sarkozy said, before leaving the set.
The president was quick to clarify that he left mid-way the interview not because he was angry, but because he was in a hurry.
“I don’t have the time. I have a big job to do. I’m not angry, I’m in a hurry,” he told the channel, CBS.
The interview was broadcast on Sunday on the American network CBS but had been conducted two weeks before the president and his wife announced their divorce.
