New Delhi: ‘Ice Age: Continental Drift’ featuring a woolly mammoth and his prehistoric friends is the fourth film in the animated series ‘Ice Age’. Directed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier, the film will showcase the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Keke Palmer, Chris Wedge, Peter Dinklage, Jennifer Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Drake and Nicki Minaj.

This film will also have the mammoth Manny, the sloth Sid, the saber-toothed cat Diego and the squirrel Scrat in the lead roles. Scrat's quest for acorns initiates the break-up of the Pangaea landmass into continents as we know them, meanwhile Manny and his wife Ellie deal with their teenage daughter Peaches who has a crush on Ethan.

Sid's family is looking for him because they want to dump his granny with him, leaving Sid wonder whether his family loves him or not.

The situation becomes complex when Manny gets stuck on a floating ice raft with Sid, Diego and Granny. The herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.

The earlier films of the series have become successful at the box office and thus this instalment is also expected to receive initial eyeballs. Big Hollywood films have done well at the Indian box office recently, but most of those films were well known franchises, unlike ‘Ice Age’ series which is popular with only a section of the movie goers.

Secondly, it will have to face a stiff competition with ‘Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum’ which has been publicized well; however, Ice Age’s dedicated fan base can fetch the makers some profits. (With inputs from Reuters)
