New Delhi: Sajid Khan's last directorial venture 'Housefull 2' was a superhit and it entered the Rs 100 crore club quite easily. His earlier two films 'Heyy Babyy' and 'Housefull' had also received commercial success. Such things have given him the confidence of claiming that 'Himmatwala' is going to be a success even if it gets average reviews. He said to IANS, "I knew my film will be a hit when I started writing it. This is my review. I don't even want a half-star review for 'Himmatwala'. I will not even read one review. I don't hate critics, but I feel that 90 percent of them don't love cinema. They are just doing a job."
Such brave statements have increased the audience's expectations from the film and thus we have compiled a list of what to expect from 'Himmatwala'.
Ajay Devgn's entry: A lot has been said about Ajay's entry in the film, in fact Sajid Khan went on to say, "This is an open challenge that if viewers won't clap on Ajay's entry in 'Himmatwala', I will refund the ticket money."
For the movie, Sonakshi features in a disco song 'Thank God It's Friday' in which she sports a jazzy look.
This suggests that extra care has been taken care of the lead actors' introductory shots in the film. In any case, Ajay Devgn is known for making grand entries on the silver screen. The applause will become thunderous if Tamannaah also gets a good entry.
Tamannaah's Bollywood dreams: The actress has already made it big in the Southern film industry but 'Himmatwala' is going to be her big break as this is her chance to win millions of fans in the Hindi heart land. She has proved her skills in the songs but if she acts well then it's going to be the icing on the cake.
Paresh Rawal's break dance: From being a villain to playing a comedian, the actor has done it all, but Paresh Rawal has found a way to amuse the spectators as he is going to flaunt his dancing skills in 'Himmatwala'.
"It was a comic scene and I wanted him (Paresh Rawal) to do something, which he has not done before. So when I asked Paresh bhai to do a breakdance, he started laughing, but agreed to do it. There were no rehearsals because he wanted to be spontaneous," Sajid Khan said in a statement.
Mahesh Manjrekar as Sher Singh: Manjrekar is going to face a dilemma about the tone of his character. He is playing a bad guy in the film but the mood of 'Himmatwala' is funny, which means he is required to balance his acting with proper ingredients. He can emerge as the show-stealer if he does it well.
Sonakshi Sinha's moonwalk: She has faced criticism for her weight in the past but she is going to showcase some difficult dance moves in 'Himmatwala'. For the movie, Sonakshi features in a disco song 'Thank God It's Friday' in which she sports a jazzy look.
Five item girls: Sajid Khan has shot a song called 'Dhoka dhoka' for 'Himmatwala' which has some similarities with original Himmatwala's 'Tohfa tohfa'. Five actresses have performed on this song and this is the highest number of item girls acting in just one song (We are not counting the songs where film actors make a cameo).
The contradictions: Though Sajid Khan's film is inspired from the 1983 blockbuster but it's not the exact replica of the original film. Ajay Devgn is playing a street fighter in the film while Jeetendra was an engineer in the previous edition. Tamannaah said in an interview with IANS, "Ajay's character in the film is a street fighter but in the original Jeetuji's (Jeetendra) character was en engineer. So, I don't feel the sense of comparison will be as strong once the film comes out."
The sets: It's difficult to forget the famous 'Ta thaiya' song from 1983's 'Himmatwala'. The song had used countless number of props, so when Sajid Khan would be recreating 'Naino me sapna' with Tamannaah and Ajay, he would be hoping to match up to the original.
Amit Kumar's voice: He doesn't sing very often but Sajid Khan persuaded him to lend his voice for Ajay, but will the voice suit the actor? Only the film could give the answer.
Adhyayan Suman: The actor is looking at 'Himmatwala' with a positive frame of mind. Adhyayan will be reprising the role of Shakti Kapoor in the 'Himmatwala' remake and the actor is grateful to director Sajid Khan for choosing him for this big budget drama. "It's not a small role, it's a big role. 'Himmatwala' is a big break for me. Of course, at the end of the day 'Himmatwala' is Ajay Devgn, Tamannah and Sajid Khan's film. But I am honestly thankful and grateful that Sajid sir gave me an iconic role in such a big film that was played by Shakti Kapoor. I just hope people appreciate me in that. It's an out-an-out commercial film," the 24-year-old said in an interview with IANS. Let's see how his character shapes up in the film. (With inputs from IANS)
