Friendly football match held to mark Reading Day

ALUVA: The World Reading Day was celebrated in a unique way after the crew   of vessel MV Logos Hope, the floating library which called on Kochi Port, held a friendly football match with the players of local team Kottaram Club here on Sunday. Hosts Kottaram Club, led by municipal councillor Fazil Hussain, defeated the Logos team 2-1. The Logos team had talented players from Jamaica, Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Italy. Kunjumon and Hashim scored for the host team while Logos team captain Marshal of Germany scored for the visitors. The visitors lost the match owing to adverse climatic condition and lack of teamwork. The sailors of the vessel would perform various activities to promote the  reading habit in the state, captain Marshal said. Municipal chairman M T Jabob, veteran football coach M M Jacob and former municipal chairman M O John presented mementos to the players.
