California: Fashion designer Anand Jon was arrested earlier this year in Los Angeles on multiple charges of sexual assault.

Jon has dressed celebrities like Paris Hilton, Paula Abdul and Michelle Rodriguez. Jon has been charged with three counts of rape. But now his sister and supporters are stepping up.

At a recently held India's Independence Day event by Friends of the South Asian American Communities in Beverly Hills, Sanjana Jon, Anand Jon's sister was joined by supporters in voicing their concern for her brother through a fashion show.

“When you talk about independence, civil rights and everybody’s rights are important. That’s why we wanted the show to be a statement of solidarity made by people who have worked with him (Anand),” said Sanjana.

The fashion show featured clothes by Sanjana Jon who alongside her brother Anand, is also a designer that has worked with numerous celebrities and promoted messages such as "Global AIDS Awareness"

While the family stands strong behind Anand Jon, friends, collegues, supporters nationally and internationally known flew in to also share their support.

“Anand has been a fantastic supporter,” said Anand’s friend, Marla.

Former Miss India and fashion designer, Amrita Thapar added, “Sanjana and Anand are good friends of mine. And this is the least that I could do to have come down to LA to support this. I have known the family for years. They are lovely people.”

Anand Jon was originally arrested and jailed in March, after three potential victims came forward to the police. However, family and supporters feel it is time to speak out, and hope with events such as these, their voice can be heard.
