SC wont hear illegally-occupied bungalow case

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Angered by the Government's unsatisfactory replies, a three-judge Supreme Court Bench refused to conduct a hearing.

The Bench said there is little hope for the country if state and Central Governments can't act on court notices.

This is the first time in the history of the Supreme Court that the three judges hearing the matter said that they will not hear the case as there is no hope for this country.

The court had asked the Government nearly two years ago to explain what steps it had taken to vacate Government bunglows of illegal occupants. But with little information coming from the Government, the court on Tuesday said they won't conduct further hearing in the matter.

Former and present ministers, bureaucrats, judicial and police officers and journalists are among those allegedly occupying government bungalows illegally in Delhi and in the state capitals.
