Tripoli: In a first in several weeks, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi made a rare public appearance at a hotel hosting the media in Tripoli.

He made an unusual stop at the hotel that hosts the international media. Being told ahead about his visit, 150 journalists from around the world waited for nearly eight hours for the dictator.

The sight of Muammar Gaddafi coming in set off a complete stampede. While it seemed unusual for world leaders, but apparently in Libya it was quite normal.

CNN-IBN spoke to a woman who shook hands with Gaddafi and said she would not wash them till a week now.

"I shook his hands and I am really happy. I will never wash my hands at least for one week. I want to keep his smell in my hands," said the woman.
