New Delhi: In the latest twist to the coal block allocations, sources said that BJP President Nitin Gadkari will be serving a notice to Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh. Digvijaya had targeted the BJP President for his closeness with BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Sancheti.
Digvijaya had claimed, "Ajay Sancheti, BJP MP and close aide and business partner of Nitin Gadkari has been given coal block in single bidding while no allocations are done in single bidding leading to losses in crores. Ask BJP how this was allocated in single bidding?"
Sancheti's firm SMS Infrastructure Limited is being dragged into the coal block allocation controversy.
Meanwile, sources also said that Sancheti is unlikely to surrender his stakes in a Chhatisgarh-based PSU, which will upset a section of the BJP. Sources added that such a move could be seen as an admission of guilt.
Digvijaya had also targeted CAG Vinod Rai suggesting he has a political agenda like one of his controversial predecessors TN Chaturvedi, who had given a report on Bofors issue and soon after joined the BJP. Hitting out at the national audit body for computing "imaginative losses" in coal blocks allocation and setting a precedent by going to press, he had said, "I am reminded somewhat of the history of Chaturvedi, whenever I view about him (Rai)".
