Washington: A lot has happened in the race to the White House, but when you're running for President, a lot of things can slip your mind.
Like what wedding anniversary you're celebrating. Just ask Barack Obama.
His anniversary was on Friday but he fumbled on the count of exact number of years ever since he said ‘I do’ and made an anniversary gaffe right in front of his wife!
“We will be celebrating our 15th anniversary next week, and she just about has me trained!” said Obama.
If she had truly trained him, he would have said “16th” which is their correct anniversary!
Normally, TV presenter Keith Olberman is an Obama fan, but for this transgression Keith awarded Barack Obama the bronze for worst person in the world.
All week long Obama has been making amends...aboard his campaign plane, where the press was partying.
The senator handed out cookies and made a mantra of his correct anniversary by repeating the number 16! He was trying to maker amends for the gaffe.
A newly engaged reporter asked the senator the secret to a successful marriage.
He cited humor, listening, and said, “Never get so mad that you forget you love them, so you don't say something that's hard to take back."
He said all this, while he kept taking back the wrong anniversary with the right one.
Now this isn't Senator Obama's first slip up involving a number.
“I've now been in...57 states,” he said with a fumble. He meant to say 47. But misstating states doesn't compare with misstating your anniversary.
As of now, the McCain campaign hasn't yet turned the anniversary gaffe into an attack, but comedian Jimmy Kimmel did, by making a funny and fake advert that ran thus:
“Would you vote for a man who doesn't even know how long he's been married? America deserves more! I’m Michelle Obama and I approve this message,” said the voice over.
