New Delhi: The game is up for former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje. She has finally given up on her war against BJP President Rajnath Singh, ending three days of defiance.
Conceding defeat, Raje issued a statement in Jaipur and denied she was working against the party. Reminding everyone that her mother was one of the founding members of the BJP, she stated that she was willing to accept any decision that the BJP high command would take.
Just hours after this statement, the BJP's parliamentary board met in the Capital and issued a statement as well, an indicator that both the warring factions have chosen to go in for a compromise.
"I have complete faith that the party’s rules will be followed by all,” Rajnath Singh said.
But the embarrassment caused to the BJP will be on the minds of party workers for some time now. After a change of guard in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan is the next state where a change has been enforced.
But sources in the party said that the rebel camp in Rajasthan is now willing to negotiate with the Central leadership. They have two demands.
The first, that a person of Raje’s choice should be her successor in the state Assembly as the leader of the Opposition. And the second one is that the former chief minister should be respectably rehabilitated in the national politics.
