Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference Chief Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s decision of observing a shutdown on Sunday was thwarted after he was placed under house arrest in the early hours of the day.
The shutdown was called in Jammu and Kashmir in wake of Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine.
Security forces comprising police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel cordoned Geelani's residence at Hyderpora.
He has been barred from making any movement outside the residence.
