New Delhi: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez lashed back at Bush calling him a “genocidal terrorist”.
Bush had earlier accused Chavez of backing terrorists in neighbouring Colombia and fuelling an anti-American campaign with his country's oil wealth.
"The president of the United States himself has come out and attacked us and attacked me personally, calling me a demagogue. Well, I am calling him a terrorist and genocidal," Chavez said on his weekly show Alo, Presidente which is aired on Venezuela’s national television.
Over Bush's comment on Venezulans going hungry, Chavez insisted that Bush look at the economic conditions in the United States first.
"Venezuela's people today are better fed than ever. The people taking hits from their own government are in the United States, which has an economic crisis,” Chavez pointed out.
George W Bush has often come into the line of fire by the outspoken Leftist leader.
