New Delhi: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has said that he would be signing a four-year extension on his contract at Anfield very soon.

The 26-year-old has two years left on his current deal but the Reds are keen to tie him down to a new one.

New club owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are also willing to agree to a £120,000 weekly wage for the England midfielder.

"You know, I'm ready to sign anytime, as soon as the contract is put in front of me I'll sign it," Gerrard said.

The contract will give Gerrard the chance to help Liverpool launch a challenge for the Premiership title.

Liverpool travels to Athens in five days time for the Champions League final against AC Milan.
