Take on Google's mission to moon, win $30 mn

Neelam, Biplab Ghosal

New Delhi: Think the sky isn't the limit? How about going to the moon? Google Inc is offering $30 million to anyone who can get a vehicle to the moon on his own steam. Interested? Log onto googlelunarxprize.org to find out more.

Don't fancy all that rocket science? Then maybe this will grab you: For just $10, you can get your favourite photo to the moon. Snaps uploaded at lunarlegacy.org will be saved on DVDs that will be attached to vehicles competing for the Xprize. Your mug on the moon - now that's an idea!

The brains behind the whole thing is the XPrize foundation. It's been organising such contests since 1995 - in the hope of discovering a cheap, reliable way of space travel.

The privately-built Space Ship One that reached space in 2004 is its most famous discovery yet. Could you be the next in their roll of honour?
