Get surround sound on your headset

Mumbai: If you want great sound while listening to your favourite band or while watching a movie, but you want to save yourself the hassle of picking out the perfect speakers and setting them up, here is an easy and cheap way out.

If you own a surround sound system, but you dont want the hassle of setting up a 5.1 or even a 7.1 speaker setup, then what do you do?

Well you could use your head and wallet and get yourself a headphone.

But not just any run off the mill type of headphones.

What you need is a Creative HQ-2300D.

Sturdy construction, comfortable headrests and a tiny powerhouse of a decoder are some of the reasons you might want to shell out almost Rs 4000 for this headset.

The USP of this headphone is simple. It has a 5.1 surround sound system with none of the hassles. Other pluses include a three-metre-long cable and connections for gaming consoles and DVD players.

The sound quality too is top-notch. The high notes dont make you grate your teeth and the bass is thankfully full and deep.

But, there is one problem - a tiny decoder.

No doubt a great concept and a great tool, but the decoder is a battery sucker.

Most people wouldn't remember to switch their decoders off after shutting down their PC, so an auto off feature would definitely have been desirable here.
