Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad fans wanted a win at home on Wednesday and at the same time wanted to see the best of Sachin Tendulkar. But only one was possible, as a Tendulkar special would have ruined Hyderabad's hopes of a win. And Ishant Sharma bowling the Mumbai Indians' opener ensured that Hyderabad bagged two crucial points, though it left Tendulkar fans tad disappointed.
It's a privilege for every bowler to bowl to Tendulkar, dismissing him a dream come true. Sharma, though just 24, has shared the India dressing room with Tendulkar for some time now and knows how it feels to dismiss one of the best batsman to have played the game. "It is a tremendous feeling to get Sachin Tendulkar's wicket," Sharma told the IPL website. "When I started playing cricket, I never felt I would someday bowl to Tendulkar or be playing against him," the fast bowler said.
"It is a big moment for any bowler to get the wicket of one of the best batsman in the world. I am pleased I got the wicket of the 'God of cricket'. It is a special feeling," the Man of the Match added.
Ishant bagged figures of 2 for 15 in a four-over spell, which included a maiden, against Mumbai on Wednesday that took his tally of wickets to 12 in the tournament. He attributes his good show so far to his relaxed mind.
"I have been going in with a relaxed mindset these days which is something that has worked for me in the IPL. I have been consistent throughout the tournament. My economy rate has been close to seven, which I feel is fair enough to have in this format of the game. I am pretty happy [with] the way I am bowling," he said.
The win against Mumbai took Hyderabad to 12 points from 10 games, the same as Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai and Rajasthan Royals, who have played a game less than the other three. Chennai Super Kings top the table with 16 points.
