Sarthak was the son of a doctor couple, Rajesh and Deepti Chawla. The needle of suspicion now points to his mother, who now says she saw someone entering Sarthak's room before she fainted.
The mother of the child, Dr Deepti Chawla was found lying unconscious with her wrists slit, next to his body. She has now told the police a man attacked her son with a hammer. She also mentioned a strange aroma in the room when she saw a man in the son’s room attacking the boy.
Since the door was bolted from inside, the husband who had gone out for a morning walk had to force open the door with the milkman, the apartment society’s guard and others beside him.
Many feel that a botched up preliminary investigation may have rendered the search for the killer fruitless.
Since the security guard denies seeing anyone entering the house and the door was reportedly latched from inside, police are looking into the possibility of it being a case of murder and attempted suicide too.
