Click to play videoRanchi: In a shocking and gruesome incident a class 12 student was beheaded in the premises of Ranchi's prestigious St Xavier's College by a boy on Wednesday. The accused has been arrested.
The victim Khushboo had just stepped outside the examination hall after appearing for her final ISC paper when a boy attacked her, slitting her throat with a sharp object.
Khushboo bled to death on the spot. Her attacker Bijendra Kumar was caught by other students and handed over to the police. Both students reportedly hailed from Jamshedpur.
"We saw the boy running from the scene. He was stopped by some students playing football. When they asked him why he had killed the girl, he said that he would answer all questions in court," said Dr SN Tiwari, Professor & Eyewitness.
"Kusum Kumari was beheaded with a sharp weapon in the campus of St Xavier's college, Ranchi by a young man who was identified as Vijendra Prasad," Ranchi Superintendent of Police Sambhu Thakur.
Thakur did not rule out love angle being the motive behind the killing. "We are trying to establish how the boy knew the girl," he said.
