New Delhi: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two salesmen of a shop in the heart of Delhi’s busy market area Connaught Place, police said.

Police confirmed that the woman, a resident of Faridabad, was gang raped at the underground shopping complex of Palika Bazaar in Delhi.

The shopkeeper Ashok and his employee Narender Kumar were arrested on Monday following the complaint from the woman (23), they said.

According to the police, the victim had gone to Palika Bazaar for shopping on Sunday morning. The two accused took the victim to their shop in the first floor on the pretext of showing some items but stuffed a cloth in the woman's mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm. The two then allegedly took turns to rape the victim.

The victim managed to escape and contacted the Palika Bazaar Association members who then called the police.

She was taken for a medical examination and later an FIR was lodged at the Connaught Place Police Station. The accused were produced before a magistrate on Monday.
