Badalpur (Uttar Pradesh): Seventeen-year-old Rashi Nagar does not have time to help her family with household chores for she is preparing for her political science exam — a subject she chose for her Bacherlor degree.

Someday, Rashi hopes to follow in the footsteps of her favourite icon, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati.

"After Mayawati's sucess, all us girls want to study and go out and work,'' says she.

It's an ambition that is shared by many. Rashi is one of the 535 girls pursuing higher studies at the Kumari Mayawati Government Girls Post Graduate College. The attendance in this college has improved with the rising political fortunes of Badalpur's poster girl.

Today politics is not a dirty word in the village and every young girl aspires to join it.

College Principal, Dr Vijai Shanker says, "Mayawati has inspired many girls to study and it's great."

Mayawati who is a Bed and LLB herself is a source of inspiration. Her name adorns the three educational institutions in this area and parents are proud that their daughters are following the footsteps of Maya

Even though Badalpur's success story Mayawati has not found the time to visit her village after she became Chief Minster, her fan following has not been affected in the least. After all CM Mayawati has shown the way that many girls in the village want to take.
