New Delhi: The Goa government has revealed that terrorists were planning Bali-like terror attacks in the state.
Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik has said that the terror suspects arrested recently in Karnataka had done recces of the beaches.
“They had surveyed coastal areas and many crowded areas. We were saved because they didn’t not get RDX and money on time,” said Naik.
However, the plan was dropped because of logistical problems, said Naik.
Police sources said the suspects Asadullah Abubacker, Riyazuddin Nasir and Mohammed Asif had visited the state thrice for this purpose, twice on motorcycles and once by bus.
Another sources also said that they were targeting the famous discotheque on Baga.
The terrorists were targeting Israeli tourists in the state, the sources added.
The Chief Minister of Goa Digambar Kamat has assured tourists that security has been stepped up.
“The police are carrying out the possible investigations,” said Kamat.
