Panaji: Goa and Jammu and Kashmir are victims of typecast, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday. While Goa was a victim of the perception of being a fun and party destination, Jammu and Kashmir was typecast as a place beset with violence, Abdullah said.
"Goa, like Kashmir, is a victim of typecast. People only associate Goa with fun, partying and carnival. And Kashmir, only linked to violence," he said at a literary conference in Panaji.
"Goa and Kashmir have great culture, which tends to get ignored because of these typecast notions."
He said while Goa is a victim of the perception of being a party destination, J&K was typecast as a place beset with violence.
