New Delhi: The Goa Police has issued a lookout notice for a British tourist, who claims to have last seen Scarlette Keeling alive and in the company of her alleged rapist.
The eyewitness had told British media that the 15-year-old was drunk and high on drugs at the time. The eyewitness also claims to have seen bartender Samson D'Souza with Scarlette.
D'Souza has been charged with rape by the Goa police and sent to police custody by a local court.
It was initially reported that the eyewitness had returned to the UK but Goa police sources have told CNN-IBN that he is still in India.
The police continues to claim it will crack the case within the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Goa CM Digamber Kamat may now have reason to blush after CNN-IBN exposed a possible police cover-up in Scarlette Keeling’s autopsy report. But the CM is talking tough.
“No one will be spared,” Kamat declared. “If there is any shortfall in police investigation, we will also do inquiry into police angle.”
Chief Minister Digamber Kamat had, on Tuesday, defended the state police and ruled out the CBI probe demanded by the victim’s mother, Fiona.
“I am confident that Goa police will crack this case in two to three days,” he had told CNN-IBN. “There is no question of transferring the case to CBI. North Goa police are looking into it. We are very transparent in the investigation we are reveling all the information everyday.”
