Kota (Rajasthan): The IIT entrance exam is a tough cookie to crack and the dream, which is shared by thousands of students across the country becomes a reality only for a very few.
Hard work and loads of luck are the mantra to success, but some students are now actually out to please the Gods in the hope of getting into this coveted institution.
Students from Kota in Rajasthan are writing out their wish on the walls of temples as a reminder to God that they too need his attention to get into IIT.
Says an IIT aspirant, Vipin, "Our teachers and elders tell us that it's a good idea to write anything when you want to learn it, that way it remains in the mind longer. That is why I think if I write on the wall God too will know that He has to help me."
Kota is home to over 45,000 students aspiring for an engineering degree and that means the walls of many a temple are covered with written prayers.
Now that's as divine as graffiti can get and as Kota's IIT-aspirants connect with God, the temple priests are not complaining.
Says a priest, Ashok Gautam, "The parents of these children feel very happy about this. For all the effort of sending their children away from home and spending so much money, the parents and the children are the ones who ultimately stand to benefit - all with God's blessings."
It's hard to say if the prayers of students are actually being answered, but temple authorities say many students return to these temples to offer thanksgiving prayers once they get through for the course of their dreams.
